Our healthcare client seeks a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist to assist with a large medical billing project. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits, initiating and obtaining prior authorizations for services, and billing claims electronically, including a high volume of rebilling pre-existing claims.

Responsibilities
- Serve as primary liaison with insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits and initiate prior authorizations.
- Initiate and follow up on pending prior authorizations, including re-authorizations prior to expiration.
- Coordinate rejection resolutions and authorization appeals when necessary.
- Request clinical documentation to support authorization and reimbursement.
- Bill claims electronically, including high-volume rebilling of pre-existing claims.
- Research claim denials and take action to resolve them.
- Provide status updates on outstanding claims.
- Submit copay assistance claims on behalf of patients.
- Maintain accurate records and respond to urgent billing inquiries.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- 2–3 years of experience in insurance verification, eligibility, and prior authorizations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with NDC (National Drug Code).
- Experience billing medication codes.
- Knowledge of the Availity platform.
- Proficiency with MacOS and Salesforce.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with medical billing appeals.
