Accountant

Purpose:

Prepares and delivers financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by preparing and analyzing account information.
  • Enters account information in order to documents financial transactions.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Summarizes the current organizational financial status by gathering information; preparing balance sheet; profit and loss statement.
  • Validates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Manages accounting controls by preparing and suggesting policies and procedures.
  • Guides accounting administrative-support staff by delegating tasks and answering questions.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by preparing and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by performing data base backups.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and issuing disbursements.
  • Responds to procedure queries by researching and interpreting accounting rules and regulations.
  • Abides by federal, state, and local legal requirements of finance by becoming knowledgeable of current legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Creates special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
