Our client is seeking a talented Data Platform Engineer to help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives across the organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, improving system reliability, and creating tools that enable teams to work more effectively with data.
The ideal candidate has experience working with modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and scalable data pipelines, and is passionate about building reliable systems that support business growth and innovation.
Data Platform Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data across multiple platforms
- Build and maintain scalable infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives
- Develop automated testing, monitoring, and validation processes to improve data quality and reliability
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver efficient and scalable data solutions
- Assist in the implementation of data governance, security, and compliance standards
- Monitor platform performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization
- Support cloud-based data environments and troubleshoot platform-related issues
- Create tools and frameworks that improve the efficiency of data consumers across the organization
- Maintain documentation for data systems, processes, and technical standards
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to platform improvement initiatives
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend enhancements to existing infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned
Data Platform Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role
- Strong proficiency with Python and SQL
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, dbt, or similar technologies
- Understanding of modern data architecture principles and best practices
- Experience implementing monitoring, testing, and observability solutions for data systems
- Knowledge of CI/CD processes and infrastructure automation preferred
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows, feature engineering, or MLOps concepts is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
