Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Preparer to join our team for the current tax season, with strong potential for extension or full-time conversion. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced public accounting environment and enjoys working directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including:
- Individuals (Form 1040)
- Partnerships (Form 1065)
- S‑Corporations (Form 1120S)
- C‑Corporations (Form 1120)
- Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
- Conduct client interviews and gather necessary financial documentation
- Identify tax savings opportunities and provide strategic tax planning recommendations
- Ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Respond to notices and communicate with the IRS and state tax authorities as needed
- Mentor and support junior staff and interns during tax season
- Maintain accurate and organized client records within tax software systems
- Stay current on tax law updates and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years of recent tax preparation experience in a CPA firm or public accounting environment
- Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax regulations
- Proficiency with tax software such as Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, Drake, or similar
- Experience with accounting platforms like QuickBooks or Xero preferred
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or actively pursuing certification preferred
Pay: $40/hr-$50/hr
